Ed brings nearly four decades of legal experience to EGR Law, having practiced law in both Pennsylvania and New York. Throughout his distinguished career, he has adeptly counseled clients on critical aspects of technology law, AI compliance and governance, and consumer and retail financial services. His vast knowledge and practical insight make him a trusted advisor in these complex fields.

Ed's Background & Experience

Ed's legal journey began in Pittsburgh, in private practice at a boutique nationally recognized law firm, and extended to in-house positions and large law firm stints in Pittsburgh, Buffalo NY and Bozeman MT, and back to Pittsburgh:

  • Campbell, Sherrard and Burke, focusing on banking law and litigation.
  • BNY/Mellon Bank legal department, focusing on all aspects of consumer financial services and mortgage lending.
  • Sherrard, German & Kelly (formerly Campbell, Sherrard and Burke) partner level, specializing in all aspects of consumer and retail financial services, fintech, online lending and virtual wallet, business law and litigation.
  • M&T Bank legal department, Buffalo NY, oversaw the legal team responsible for consumer lending and credit card.
  • Sherrard, German & Kelly, shareholder and director, chaired the Financial Services practice group and co-chaired the Technology and the Privacy/Data Security practice groups.
  • Steptoe & Johnson, PLLC, chaired the Financial Services Practice Group and co-chaired the Privacy and Data Security Practice group.
  • Coherent Corp (formerly II-VI Inc) a global engineered materials and technology company, General Counsel Technology and Risk, and Interim Director of Trade Compliance.

Beyond the law: Ed's passions and community involvement

Outside of his legal work, Ed is actively involved in the hobby car world. He is a certified PCA national high performance driver (HPDE) instructor and an active member of the Allegheny Region of the Porsche Club of America (Past President of the ARPCA). He also serves as a member of the Car Committee and the Operating Committee of the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix. When he's not on the track or at a car gathering, Ed is an avid fisherman and amateur outdoor photographer. Most importantly, Ed cherishes family time with his wife, Ann, their four children, and grandchildren.
